onevoice1freedom
One day, one voice read something so terrible concerning a young woman, that afterwards she felt that reading around the edges of human rights was no longer enough. She had to do more, her passion already being the health, dignity and rights of women. The voice had already started a slow journey towards this end but now a momentum to gather pace and speed became urgent: the waiting for the right time to do more was over.
As a member of Amnesty International this blog objective has recently been redefined in Jan 2010, as my reading has drawn me more towards the plight of women experiencing violence in its many brutal guises .
The posts now will be centered around the fight against violence to women. This will include, sexual and domestic violence, female genital mutilation, Prostitution, honor killings, Stoning, sexual trafficking and slavery. A longer term aim of eventually creating a website with a charitable arm to it would be the ultimate goal.
May this work and the writings from my hand be dedicated to the honour and memory of Aisha Ibruhim Duhulow who was executed by stoning, in Southern Somalia on October 27th 2008, for no crime other than to be a defenceless woman, living in a country where human rights are non-existent, amongst power, war and depravity. It is fitting that this sites content should be dedicated to her. Her short life, taken in such appalling violent circumstances, will not be in vain nor forgotten. And with one voice speaking out for one freedom I will not let her down. She is owed that much at least.

Hi,
I am writing on behalf of Women and Children First – a charity that is working to improve maternal health and reduce the numbers of mothers and babies that die in childbirth in the developing world.
After looking at your blog in particular articles on women’s health issues, we have noticed that you link to Maternity Worldwide. We’re currently seeking to raise awareness of our work and wondered whether you’d consider also adding a link to us? If you would we’d be extremely grateful and the simple act of linking to us will help draw attention to this highly important cause.
If you have any questions or would like to find out more about us please feel free to email us or check out our website at http://www.wcf-uk.org.
Many thanks,
Melissa
